Europe’s Christmas Markets: Traditions, Delights, and Holiday Cheer!

 

The holiday season is approaching. Soon Europe is about to fill with snow-covered cities, twinkling lights, and the enchanting aromas of mulled wine, freshly baked pastries, and gingerbread. The Christmas markets typically begin in late November and run until December 23 or 24, with some extending beyond New Year’s Eve or even into early January. 

As a travel photographer I have explored countless European Christmas markets. Here is my list of the best Christmas Market tours in Europe to book now. Enjoy!

1. Christkindlesmarkt, Nuremberg, Germany

The Christkindlesmarkt is one of the oldest and most authentic Christmas markets in Europe. What sets this market apart is its strict adherence to tradition and customs that dates back to the 16th century.
